Beautiful reflection on transformation. The detail abut the puff adder's 'in blue' phase captures something profound about creative work. That period of clouded vision and vulnerability before new growth isnt just discomfort but the actual mechanisim of change. I've felt that milky-eyed state in my own creative cycles where everything gets blurry and defensive right before someting shifts.
Thank you so much for drawing this parallel, it feels so resonant for me too! I definitely feel this milky eye state when I am creating, just before the forms arise. I think that is exactly where I go and then the painful and beautiful shift into something new, something vulnerable, something I haven't revealed before :)
Thank you for attending to the 'wants'! In the last days I notices interesting shapes forming in my Yoga mat, with my sweat. So I took some inspirations from your practice and translated those shapes to paper- to see what is willing to take form. I am happy and surprised that your practice is starting to sprout in my Yoga mat now :)
Hey Brent, I am so glad to hear that I am not the only one needing to slow down! Life and the world is feeling so intense right now. It feels good to loosen these internal pressures and allow space for something else to emerge. I also really love this intention and invitation to experiencing more of yourself in relation to others, something I can definitely relate to! Perhaps the animals will appear to you in inner or outer life sometime soon :)
It’s nice to hear from you again 🖤 I can relate to what you’ve written. There can be such an ingrained expectation to dive straight into the new year. But it’s still winter. We’re meant to be spending time in the cave right now and find renewal there (at least in the northern hemisphere). No need to hurry.
It's so interesting because it is Summer here in South Africa, but I have still been feeling so drawn into hibernation and the cave space for some reason! I hope you get some space to pause too x
Always happy to hear from you, Amy, and see your work. I completely understand the desire to slow down and move in gently into the new year. I’ve been doing the same—taking my time, not giving myself any excess pressure but moving as I feel the desire within myself to move.
I’m gathering myself to myself, I think, not just internally but outwardly as well. I want to experience more of myself in relation to others and the world around me. I’m not sure what animals best represent this, but that feels like where I’m at.
Thank you as always, Amy! Move at your own chosen speed. 🙏

Oh my word I love this so much! A real integration of the body and the arts. Something so essential and so precious!
